Royal Spanish Order Royal Order of Spain Former King of Naples and brother of Emperor Napoleon Joseph Napoleon, who became King of Spain on June 6, 1808, founded in 1809: ROYAL SPANISH ORDER. Joseph establishes this order for faithful and loyal subjects, ie for the collaborating nobility, which was closer to the rich throne before the honor and glory of Spain. King Joseph did not bother much with the form of the order, so the order is again divided into three stages: Grand Cross Commander Knight The jewel of the order is again a gold, red enamel and a five-pointed star with balls on its spikes, in the obverse round plate of which was placed a lion of the Aragonese emblem with a copy on a blue ring: JOS. NAPOLEON REX. HISP. ET IND. (Joseph Napoleon, King of Spain and India) On the reverse is the tower of the Castilian coat of arms and in the blue description: VIRTUTE ET FIDE (Virtue and Loyalty) The order was worn similarly to the Legion of Honor on a red ribbon. The Grand Cross was complemented by a star. This interesting and rare order also had its order's clan. These knees were made and could only be worn by King Josef Napoleon of Spain. The situation in Spain was strongly anti-French and mainly anti-Napoleonic. After the battle of Vittoria on June 21, 1813, the king left Spain. Even for this reason, there was no abundant award of the order. The only Grand Cross of the Order is stored in the Museum of the Legion of Honor in Paris. The new Spanish King Ferdinand VII. this order was abolished in 1814. Even in France, the order was banned on July 19, 1814. This interesting order is therefore the rarest of all Vasal orders. Note: Josef Bonaparte, the brother of Emperor Napoleon, was born on January 7, 1769 in Corsica. He served as War Commissioner for the Alpine Army, was a Member of Parliament and a member of the Five Hundred Council, Ambassador to Parma, later to Rome, Minister Plenipotentiary, Imperial Prince, Divisional General, and finally King of Naples and Spain. In 1794 he married the wealthy daughter of the Marseille merchant Julia Clary, who was the sister of Désirée, the wife of Marshal Bernadott and the then queen of Sweden. After the fall of the emperor, he settled in Philadelphia as Count de Survillers. He died on July 28, 1844 in Florence.
