Commemorative medal of the International Federation of Old Fighters Fidac
Médaille comemorative de la Féderation des Anciennes combattants Fidac
This faded medal is designated as a commemorative medal that was intended for the old fighters of the Great War 1914 -1918. Tradition has it that it is an extended medal, known quite naturally in France, and intended for fighters of the other Allies from the 1914-1918 period. I asked my French colleague Rolland Gerdil if he could provide any further clarifying details on the actual medal. Veteran medals are very popular with French collectors and some pieces are more valuable than the Order's decorations.
R. Gerdil's statement was shocking to me, as this medal is almost unknown in France. Although he admitted that it was a French medal, he did not consider it to be a classic veteran's medal worn by former soldiers of the First World War. Perhaps that is why we must be somewhat more cautious in assessing the significance of this medal. It is believed that the original French mintage was sold to Czechoslovakia and Czechoslovakia alone.
The medal is struck in bronze, the diameter of the medal is 36 mm, with a thickness of 2.5 mm. But the weight and thickness of the medal is different, because these medals were minted after 1945.
We distinguish the basic types:
l. Medals with no year
2. Medals with the year 1914-1918
3. Medals with the year 1914-1919
We can also distinguish medals that have an original French hinge, medals minted in the Czechoslovakia (Pichl Praha company ) that have a spherical eyelet for hanging the ribbon. There are many more of these types, if any collector has another, interesting medal, please add to this article .

Diskuse

Citace - joe98 :

Well There are 4 variants -- 1-without the year in the label, 2-with the year 1918-19 and the signature Pichl, 3-with the year 1918-19 but without the signature, 4-with the year 1918-19 without the signature WITH ANOTHER LUG on the hanger. The 4 does not appear very often. I'm avoiding the 3-variant without signature.
