The Slovak unit has served in the UNDOF mission since May 1998 as a platoon that was part of the Austrian battalion AUSBATT. Originally, 35 Slovak soldiers were sent to the operation.
The unit consisted of members of the Rapid Deployment Battalion (Later - Immediate Response Battalion). The unit began training in the Martin crew in 1997 in the battalion. Battalions served in the peacekeeping mission until May 2002.
Taking into account the successful operation of the unit, the unit was expanded in May 1999, ie from a platoon to a company (3rd Company). Since May 1999, the Slovak Republic has had 95 soldiers in UNDOF, eight of whom served in the command and staff of the Austrian battalion and 87 formed its company.
Slovak soldiers were responsible for an area of 58 km2. They performed their tasks by sending patrols from seven permanent positions (position 10 - company headquarters - road, position 30 - road, position 31 - road, position 33 - border observation, position 17 - observation, position 14 - road, position 16 - border observation) and one accommodation position (position 16B - accommodation), namely pedestrian or motorized, or special patrols (patrols), which increased the flexibility and efficiency of their work.
At the same time, the company continuously allocated the RRG group to intervene in the event of disruptions and to protect the forces and resources of UN troops.
The aim of patrolling and observing the positions was to investigate the situation in designated areas, possible violations of international agreements at a visual distance and prevent the unauthorized entry of military personnel, military equipment and civilians with weapons into the separation area between Syria and Israel.
The Government of the Slovak Republic approved the termination of the unit's activities in the UN peacekeeping mission UNDOF. The withdrawal of the unit took place on 5 and 12 June 2008. Slovak troops in the operation were replaced by a Croatian contingent.
