History of the Regiment:
In 1625, Colonel Merode-Waroux recruited a larger number of cavalrymen into the Imperial service - altogether he raised 30 companies. Initially three regiments were raised from these, which were reorganized into a single regiment in 1628. In the following year an additional 5 companies were then given to Hareacourt. The regiment took part in the Battle of Lutter, distinguished itself at the capture of Mantua and took part in the Battle of Breitenfeld. The regiment was disbanded in 1632 and reorganized as a regiment of dragoons.
