Austro-Hungarian strike troops in the First World War.

As in other European armies of this period, the Austro-Hungarian army was the largest component of the ground forces. In 1903, 63% of the army were infantry units. The important role of the infantry and its mission was also captured in the main military laws of 1868, 1889 and 1912.
