Fighter Pilot
On 17 August 1943, he participated in Operation Ramrod 206 in the cockpit of Spitfire Mk.IX LZ997. After a victory over an Fw 190, he collided with F/Sgt Shouldice's Spitfire MA615, killing him and forcing him to bail out. However, he managed to avoid capture and returned to Britain via Spain on 10 October 1943.
