Socialist Romania existed from 1947 to 1989. From 30 December 1947 to 1965, we speak of the People's Republic of Romania, but on 1 January 1966, we speak of Romania with a name: Romanian Socialist Republic. Therefore, we will use the historical names here as well. HERO OF THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF ROMANIA Titul de Erou Republice Socialiste Romania The honorary title of Hero of the Socialist Republic of Romania was the highest state award that could be given to citizens (but also to foreigners) for outstanding services to socialist Romania. Following the example of the USSR, it is not an order or a medal, but an honorary title. The decoration was established by the decision of the Government of the Romanian Republic number 166 of 1966. The statutes or statutes stated that the decoration itself could be awarded for outstanding merit in all areas of Romania's internal and foreign policy. At the presentation of the self-decoration, the recipient of the decoration also received the Order for the VICTORY OF SOCIALISM. The custom decoration of the Hero of the Romanian Socialist Republic was made by: - gold - silver - with precious stones (brilliants and rubies) - of base metal, which was gilded - with imitations of precious stones. Why? This question cannot be answered unequivocally, but it seems that the person of the decorator also played a role. It is for this reason that we prefer to just show some specimens. All images are taken from private phallic collections. After 1990, some specimens from stocks that were dispersed entered private collections, but it can be said that these are rare decorations. This decoration was worn only In natura, no small pin exists .

It is quite interesting that this rare decoration is offered for sale in all variants. So it is best to imagine these variants. The very first variant, which is referred to as the design type, is made of base metal and is commonly offered in the USA for $500-700. Since the pictures are just downloaded from the sales and offer catalogue, we can get an idea by the price range what is rare and what is more common. Even here after 1989, these high order decorations disappear from storage or safekeeping (in Czech, what could be stolen).

The decoration of this type reminds more of fairground jewellery or the red stone, which should be a ruby, is a mere imitation and the brilliants are replaced at best by clear semi-precious stones or even glass. The catalogue price of this type is around $1200-1500. However, it is possible that this particular type is a wearable copy.

This type of decoration is made of gold, diamonds and ruby are real stones. Its price just to compare is $5,000 without the fee, which is up to an additional 25%. We do not list prices for speculation, just to give a better idea of how and to whom the decoration was awarded in the then socialist Romania. It seems that the party status in the then Romania had a decisive influence on the quality of the production and manufacture of the decoration itself.

Zlacené stříbro, na zadní straně je dobře vidět upevnění středového štítu, zde tři nýtky, ale jsou exempláře jen s dvěmi nýtky.
