Poor and backward Romanian agriculture was looking for ways to increase agricultural production. One of the options that seemed possible and supported by the experience of the Russian Bolsheviks was collectivisation. Today it is clear to all of us that this was a step in the wrong direction. Not at a time when Romania, economically ruined, devastated by the fascist regime, was seeking its own path to prosperity.
The medal was established in 1962 by Decree 292. The medal was awarded for merit in the field of collectivisation of Romanian agriculture.
