In some armies is Patrol a small unit that can be roughly at the level of the platoon, or squad, or půlčety. As such, it is sometimes the equivalent section, if this exists, and is roughly on the same level.

In the austro-Hungarian army existed within the equestrian regiments telegraph patrols (Telegraphen-Patrouille). These consisted of two telegrafistů (ncos) and two ordonančních riders..
