Kříž za překročení Dunaje

Crocea Trecerea Dunarei
Pamětní dunajský kříž z roku 1877-1878 byl založen rumunským knížetem Karlem I. dne 23.03.1878. Kříž byl zřízen v době rusko-turecké války, která proběhla v letech 1877-1878. Této války se jednotky Rumunského knížectví zúčastnily a bojovaly statečně po boku armády ruské. Kříž byl určen jako památka a připomínka těchto bojů. Všichni vojáci, kteří bojovali na pravém břehu Dunaje, bez rozdílů v hodnosti či postavení byli tímto křížem vyznamenáni.
V případě, že voják v bojích padl, byl kříž udělen do rodiny pozůstalého, ale na stuhu se kladla kovová spona s nápisem
TRADITIE
Pro bojovníky byla určená stuha temně rudá s dvěmi černými pásky.
Pro nebojovníky byla určena stuha černá s dvěmi rudými pásky (obracený poměr barev)
Válka byla ukončená Berlínským kongresem, který potvrdil nezávislost Rumunska, ale i Černé Hory a Srbska. Všechny tyto země získali část území na úkor Osmanské říše.
Poznámka:
Rumunsko knížete Karla z rodu Hohenzollernů se po válce o nezávislost na Osmanské říši, 10.05.1881 se prohlásilo královstvím a kníže Karel se stává rumunským králem Karlem I.

Danube Cross
Crocea "Trecerea Dunarei"
The Danube Cross is described in the introductory section and we will try to approach its significance from the point of view of Russian historians.
Transporting troops across the Danube was not easy. In the area of the forced crossing, the Danube was more than 1000 m wide and reached a depth of 30 m. The troop transport began at 0200 at night, and as early as 0300 hours the first attacking units of the Russian army came ashore on the banks of the Danube. In heavy fighting the Sistovo heights are taken and at 1400 hours the town of Sistovo is in Russian hands.
The success was due to the exemplary preparation of the Russian troops, artillery support, engineer support and exemplary command of the Russian staff. Despite these undisputed successes, Russian commanders report total casualties of nearly 800 Russian Army soldiers and volunteers. The commander of the entire operation was Russian General M.I. Dragimilov (January 20, 1830 - October 28, 1905), who was decorated with the Order of St. George 3rd degree (neck decoration) for his brilliant performance. Apart from Russian and Romanian orders and decorations, all the non-commissioned officers and privates received two rubles (note - 2 silver rubles was a rather large sum of money) as a token of gratitude for their success in the battle for the town of Sistov and the forced crossing of the Danube.
It was awarded to Romanian and Allied soldiers, as well as to civilian volunteers directly involved in the fight. That is to say, all those who showed their courage and bravery in forcibly crossing the Danube. Although the Cross was awarded across the board, it was awarded only to fighting soldiers, officers and generals who had shown their determination and perseverance in the fight against the Turks on 15 June 1877 at the Danube, but also in the battles for the Shipka mountain pass or during the siege of the Turkish fortress of Plevno.
The cross in its simple form is a spectacular decoration, which is certainly not common and is not very often represented in our collections. It is also found in miniatures 18-22 mm in size.
