According to B.Ruzicka "Military rockets" were UP (2 or 3 inches) surface-to-air salvo rockets with small stabilizers fired from rocket launchers. I suppose that its mounting on aircraft was pointless, but its engine was used after modification for the RP-3 (or also SAP.60) rocket with an overhead warhead for Typhoon and Mosquito bombers and also against submarines it was used on Swordfish, Liberators and Beaufighters.
Can you refute or support this?

From the text it appears that the first city defended by 3" rockets was Cardiff and the first German aircraft was shot down on 7 April 1941, the batteries were called "Z batteries" and were later used on ships against U-boats and later as an anti-submarine (Mattress system) and were used with success in the landings from Sicily onwards and used by ground troops crossing the Rhine. The source does not mention its use on aircraft.

Thank you bytax for the link, but the contradictions are still there.Land Mattress were land based rocket launchers, maybe variants of the ship rocket launchers. The rocket fired from them was definitely not UP (3 inches). There is a photo of this rocket launcher being loaded with a 5" caliber rocket (warhead) and cylindrical stabilizers.Maybe only the 3" caliber motor was similar, otherwise everything from the UP (3") was different including the launcher to the targets. This was definitely a differently marked rocket with different technical parameters.Confusion of these different rockets is found in my opinion in many documents.

and they show the calibre is indeed 5'' , according to some discussions it looks like the warhead was from something naval (Hedgehog perhaps ?) and the actual rocket (i.e. the motor) from a 3'' AA rocket (that might explain the caos in the markings).
