Penguin

Penguin MK3 (in the United States marked AGM-119 A) is an anti-ship missile of Norwegian origin. It was developed in collaboration with the Norwegian Defense Research Institute and Konsberg. Included in the armament of the Norwegian Air Force in 1990, where it was designed mainly for aircraft F-16A. For short and medium distances. Inertial guidance, infrared in the final phase. It shows unique abilities even against small targets, such as the tower of a submarine. The infrared sensor is broadband and very sensitive. It searches for targets autonomously at a 360-degree angle, it is resistant to IR deceptive targets and other types of interference. It distinguishes different types of targets and determines their priority of destruction. The shot does not fly directly to the target. Why? To surprise him. Fire-and-forget type, completely autonomous after firing. The target hits the waterline. The advantage of Penguin missiles is the long range, which allows you to attack from space out of reach of the enemy air defense. In his homeland, Penguin MKI came into service in 1972, M2 in 1980. In addition to the Americans, the bullet was also bought by the Swedes, Greeks and Turks. Penguin MK3 ( AGM-119 A) is a standard anti-ship weapon of Norwegian aircraft F-16.

Penguin MK2 MOD7, in the United States marked AGM-119 B, with folding wings is adapted for helicopters, eg for [ url=/viewtopic.php/t/8772] SH-60B Seahawk[/url]. The first sharp firing of this missile was made from it in June 1994. The US Navy bought about 100 missiles AGM-119 B.
