The Type 1 rotary machine gun was used as a moving weapon on multi-seat naval aircraft. The basis for this weapon was the German MG 15 machine gun. The cartridges were stored in twin drum magazines with a total capacity of 75 rounds, both drums were on the sides of the machine gun and due to the clear top surface good aiming could be achieved.
