History:


A directive of the USSR General Staff dated 10 September 1962 designates the creation of the 9th SpN Brigade in the city of Kirovograd (KVO).


28.12.1962 - creation of the brigade, stationed in the city of Kirovograd.


In 1978, a combat operation was successfully carried out to protect and transport new tank rounds to Vietnam.





On October 15, 1962, officers in Kirovograd, under the leadership of the brigade chief of staff, Colonel Safonov, began to form a brigade, which was based on military unit 55576 (820 separate company SpN), headed by platoon commander Rubtsov, who arrived in Kirovograd on November 12, 1962.


On November 16 and December 1, 1962, the first 30 people arrived.


On 31 December 1962 the formation was completed.


On February 15, 1963, the brigade crew began studying in ​​combat training. The first parachute jumps were from May 15 to June 13, 1963 at the training center in the city of Pskov. In the area of permanent deployment, parachute jumps began on October 28, 1963 with the An-2.


In 1963 the brigade received a combat battalion.


In 1965 the brigade received a diploma of the Military Council of the KVO, in 1968 it became the best unit of the military district and in 1972 it received the annual medal.


In 1984, the 668th Independent Special Purpose Detachment was formed, which after training and commissioning moved to Afghanistan/DRA, from where it returned in 1989 under the command of Colonel V.O. Goratenkov.



In accordance with the order of the Minister of Defence of Ukraine № 05 26.3.1996, the Directives of Ukraine of 31.3.1996, № 9 D-185/0125, the 9th SpN Brigade was renamed to 50th SpN Brigade. Special Training Centre of the Main Intelligence Command of Ukraine.

Afghanistan / DRA:


15.9.84-6.2.89 (4th obSpN, 4 msb, 15 oBrSpN, 668 ooSpN - 44,653) - Sufla in the Baraki Barak area.


The battalion was then sent from Baraki to Kabul, near 40th Army HQ near Kabul SpN Company. After the withdrawal on 6 February 1989, the 668th ooSpN was in the village of Sherabad, Tajikistan for several months. Then it was moved to Kirovograd.


Three combat companies: 1st company - BMP, 2nd company - BTR-80, 3rd company - BTR-80. A liaison group and a security company.



668 ooSpN (nicknamed "Southern", "Afghan", "Barak").


In 1995 transferred to the 2nd Independent Regiment SpN. And in 1999 - 50. Special Training Centre (CSP).
