The regiment is re-formed in April 1919 as a permanent militia.


In 1920, A and D Companies are moved to Fort Osborne Barracks, in Winnipeg, Manitoba and B Company to Esquimalt, British Columbia. In the inter-war period, the unit strength is greatly reduced to a strength of 209 men with a deployment to Sarcee Camp, Alberta.


Following Canada's declaration of war on Germany, on 10 September 1939, the regiment is mobilized to Winnipeg and Vancouver. Mobilization runs until October.


On 21 December 1939, the regiment sails from Halifax, Nova Scotia towards England, arriving at Aldershot as part of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Canadian Infantry Division. The regiment remains in England for 3 1/2 years, spending time there training in various parts of the islands and coast guard duties.


10.7.1943 becomes part of the 1st. Canadian Infantry Division, 8th British Army and lands in Sicily. It survives its first battle at Leonfort and moves to mainland Italy on 4.9.1943. It then attacks and advances north.


In May 1944 he takes part in the offensive on the Hitler Line and here becomes part of the 1st. Canadian Corps. In August, he participates in the fighting on the Gotha Line.

On August 15, 1950, the 2nd Battalion is formed and is commissioned to be part of the Canadian Forces to serve in Korea. The unit trains at Calgary, CFB Wainwright and then embarks on the USS Private Joe P. Martinez on 25.11.1950 bound for Pusan.


She lands in Korea in December and undergoes 6 weeks of training there, and on 6 February 1951 becomes part of the 27th Commonwealth Brigade, IX Corps, 8th Marine Division. US Army. He participates in the grueling Battle of Kapyong and the defense of this strategic valley.


On 25.5.1951 the battalion is transferred to the command of the 25th Canadian Infantry Brigade, 1st Commonwealth Division. In the fall of that year, it is relieved by 1st Battalion and returns to Calgary.


On November 30, 1950 the 3rd Battalion is formed at Wainwright, CFB Borden and Camp Ipperwash. The Third Battalion trains in Canada and relieves the First Battalion in Korea in the fall of 1952. Here it takes part in the action to capture Hill 355. It remains in Korea until July 1953.Battalion is disbanded on 8 February 1954.


The 1st Battalion assists in the Manitoba floods in the fall of 1950.


The 2nd Battalion serves in Germany from October 1953 until the fall of 1955, when it is relieved by the 1st Battalion, which remains until the fall of 1957. In the fall of 1963 1st Battalion is again in Germany for a second rotation until the fall of 1966. The 2nd Battalion performs a second rotation 7 July 1984 to 1988.


In 1968 the 1st Battalion is sent to Cyprus as part of the UN force (UNFYCIP). From this time onwards, battalions of this regiment conducted regular rotations on this island as part of the peacekeeping force and conducted 12 rotations until 1993.


In 1970, the 1st Battalion, Queen's Personal Rifles of Canada based in Victoria, British Columbia is renamed the 3rd Battalion, PPCLI and becomes a Primary Reserve unit.


The regiment or its components have served in Israel, the Golan Heights, Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Iraq, Congo, Vietnam, Central America, Angola, Somalia, Rwanda, Korea, Croatia and Bosnia.


During the war in Yugoslavia, members of the unit served with UN forces in Croatia and in 1999 in Kosovo.


The regiment participates in military operations in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
