Note:		 Vzniklo 16. dubna 1938 direktivou republikánského generálního štábu, která reorganizovala republikánské síly po vojenských katastrofách při ústupu z Aragonie a rozdělení republikánské zóny na dvě části. V době svého vzniku ji tvořilo pět polních armád ( Andalusie , Extremadura , Střed , Levante a Manévrová), 16 armádních sborů, 49 divizí a 138 smíšených brigád. Dále měla brigádu pobřežní obrany, dvě protiletadlové brigády (DCA), jednotky tanků, ženistů, dopravy. Po pádu Katalánska , 2. března 1939, prezident Juan Negrín nařídil reorganizaci republikánských sil v centrální zóně a nařídil rozpuštění GERC, stejně jako reorganizaci velení. Casaduv puč , který vypukl o několik dní později, však uskutečnění těchto opatření zabránil.
