Regimental status in July 1914: Nationality: 97% Sudeten Germans, 3% others Eger (now Cheb in the Czech Republic)
Regimental enlistment in August 1914: IR 73 (I, II, and IV Battalions) in the 18th Infantry Brigade of the 9th Infantry Division (VIII Army Corps) - a regiment destined for the front in Bosnia and Herzegovina against Serbia III Battalion, IR 73, designated as a guard unit of the High Command (AOK)
