The strict translation of the name of this anti-tank weapon 44M Buzogányvető of Hungarian origin was "mace thrower" model 44.
This anti-tank weapon was developed because of the need for Hungarian troops to fight effectively against modern Soviet tanks. The Hungarians decided to go their own way and the Hungarian Military Science Institute (HTI) proposed the development of a powerful reactive round. The barrel of the launcher was 100 mm in diameter, the reactive charge itself was up to 215 mm in diameter. The warhead contained a cumulative explosive weighing up to 4 kg. Such a charge was capable of penetrating up to 300 mm of armour or concrete. This means that it could disable any tank at a distance of 500-1,200 meters. There were a pair of reactive rounds. An anti-tank one called "Buzogány" (mace/kyjak) and a fragmentation one designed for destroying live forces bore the name "Zápor" (shower). The Hungarians developed a tripod on which was mounted a double launcher for a pair of rockets. The operator was protected by a steel shield. However, this solution was cumbersome. They did not develop a mobile launcher due to lack of production capacity, but they helped themselves with trailing-wheel launchers from captured Soviet machine guns Maxim vz. 1910 and Gorjunov SG-43. The crew consisted of three soldiers.
In addition, this weapon was lafeted on trucks (Krupp Protze, Opel Blitz, or Rába Botond), and there is a known photograph of a mount on a light tank (Toldi II). There is also a sketch of the lafetation on a tank fighter and an anti-aircraft vehicle Nimrod. The Budapest factory Weiss-Manfréd produced around 600-700 sets in 1944, which were used in the fighting in besieged Budapest.

Nimród. Ide o obrázok uverejnený v maďarskom časopise Haditechnika v roku 1987. Ide o náčrt podľa spomienok mechanika Bélu Toronyiho, ktorý uvádzal, že boli takto upravené 2 alebo 3 poškodené Nimródy. Bohužiaľ jeho tvrdenie nepotvrdzuje žiadna dostupná fotografia, či iná písomná zmienka.
