The department was created 1.9.1961 in the reorganization of the RTV (abolition of radiotechnických regiments and the emergence of separate radiotechnických battalions) in the 7. And PVOS.
At its establishment, 54. rtpr comprising:
Battalion headquarters, command post and headquarters company, which were located in Opatovice.

320. radiotechnický knot in Chrudim
Radars (after 1 ks P-30, P-10, P-8) and one (RDP-11).In April 1967, at 320. The LIP, (including his estranged habitat in the Dašicích), there were four radars (1 pcs P-35, 2 pcs P-15, 1 pc P-12) and one radar altimeter (RDP-11). For the year 1968 with the planned abolition of the 320. LIP in Chrudim and the creation of
318. radio voices in Adrspach.

In this location already since the year 1952 was a radio annoucement, belonging to the composition of the original 158. report manager the regiment and there were two prize radars RZ-III. In 1955, when the reorganization of the reporting regiment to regiment radiotechnický, her equipment should change to one radar detector P-20 and one P-8.

54. radiotechnický battalion at the time of its inception consisted of 67 officers, 17 warrant officers and 556 soldiers basic services.
