78. smíšená brigáda vznikla militarizací milicí na frontě Jaén-Granada v únoru 1937. Základem jednotky byly prapory „Pancho Villa“ a „Guadix“. Brigáda zůstala po celou dobu války v jednom sektoru, Bogarre, daleko od bojišť jižní fronty a její činnost byla omezena na poziční válku. The 78th Mixed Brigade was formed by the militarization of militias on the Jaén-Granada front in February 1937. The unit was based on the "Pancho Villa" and "Guadix" battalions. The brigade remained in one sector, Bogarre, far from the battlefields of the Southern Front throughout the war, and its activities were limited to positional warfare.
