L3 Communications AVDS-1790 1500HP
Diesel engine AVDS-1790 1500HP is one of the last development of the representatives of the engine -1790 (originally company Continental Motors, Inc.). The use of electronically controlled high pressure injection system (Common Rail), improved engines and modified cooling system (both engine, accessories) was achieved by increasing the power output of this engine up to 1.500 pcs (i.e. nearly 1.120 kW). The engine however was not accepted into the armaments and so far it is only offered as a potential power unit for military vehicles or ships (consumption of 260 kg of fuel per 1 moto-hour at 2.400 rpm/min).
According to the manufacturer, the company L3 Communication, division Combat Propulsion System, are the main advantages in reliability and endurance, higher efficiency fuel burn, lower operating costs and easy availability of spare parts (so far produced over 20,000 units of turbocharged diesel engines series AVDS-1790). The manufacturer indicates the low acquisition costs and for some the current version also offers the possibility of redevelopment on this model.
