the GBU-27/B Paveway III

Laser-guided puma calibre 2000 lb. It's a specially modified GBU-24/B for the use of aircraft F-117A Nighthawk. "Youth" would be due to the span of the aft and of the aerodynamic surfaces to the bomb bay Nighthawk because she couldn't fit. The warhead consists of ap puma BLU-109/B. The control unit Paveway (her tail) provides-allows TTS (Terminal Trajectory Shoping), then the final profiling of the trajectory for the optimum angle of impact on the differently designed targets. Eg. the ceiling of the hardened fixed hiding of the aircraft, a bunker hits vertically, to their gate, zoom horizontal. The caudal part of the BSU-88/B with a hinged surfaces comes from the Paveway II, slightly modified.

The GBU-27/B Paveway III were the armament of the u.s. air force introduced in 1987. At the end of the nineties were then developed version of the GBU-27A/B and GBU-27B/B, with a combined laser / GPS/inertial guidance system. These carries are also referred to EGBU-27 (Enhanced GBU-27) and the first time they were used in combat the first night (or rather morning) of the operation Iraqi Freedom in his unsuccessful attempt to kill Saddam Hussein in the property lying to the south of Baghdad (between Americans known as Dora Farms).

Even at this cougar is indicated attribute LLLGB (see GBU-24/B). So, which is the Nighthawk, which from low heights do not attack, certainly not. The aircraft wears the two pieces. From the height of 25000 feet, which is 7 620 meters, hitting a target on the scale of 1 m2. Price per piece: 55 000 USD.
