History and description
NIMDA, a company specializing in the refinement of vehicles of the category OT / BTR (armored personnel carrier / infantry fighting vehicle), was founded in 1972 and its first known project was the armored truck NIMDA SHOET. This vehicle is being was engineered and was based on the soviet vehicles BTR-152 (specifically, perhaps, the BTR-152V1). 3-axle vehicle with all wheel drive 6-wheel (6x6), weighing approximately 8 tonnes, has a completely new hull. It is molded in the shape of letters In, therefore provides very good protection against mines, and is welded from 8-14 mm steel plates provide sufficient protection against the light weapons infantry. Upstairs is the workplace of the crew (driver's compartment) and space for the transport of troops nezastřešen. The original engine soviet-built ZiL-123 (6 cylinder power 110 pcs) is replaced by a new engine Detroit Deisel from General Motors. Self-evident is also the presence of new automatic hydromechanical transmission GM Allison, instead of manually sorted the gearbox soviet production.
Armament
The vehicle does not have organic equipment as such, however, has 5 swivel mounts for machine guns. As on the below pictures to see, was used 1x velkorážový machine gun M2HB (in a calibre of 12,7 mm) in the lead car, and in the corners are fixed machine guns FN MAG (M240) (in caliber 7.62 mm). A special feature is also the presence of a machine gun M1919A4 (also in the caliber of 7.62 mm), located in the left front corner.
Vehicle Nimda Shoet officially passed the tests Israeli Armed Forces (IDF), as such, has achieved remarkable achievements, but the equipment was not accepted. A later model known as the Mk.III is reportedly in an advanced stage of design and construction intended for production.
