Note: Note: | 1) According to the mobilization tables, its name was Bicycle Squadron nr 9 (Szwadron Kolarzy nr 9 - 9th Bicycle Squadron). In Polish historiography, however, it is referred to as here. The 2) date of the squadron's demise is not given in Polish sources. In his report Budzianowski states that he maintained the unit until 21.09.1939, when he was wounded in combat. 3) The squadron was to be mobilized according to the mobilization plan 3rd Mounted Rifle Regiment originally for the Novohrad Cavalry Brigade. However, after leaving the mobilization center, it was included in the Mazovian Cavalry Brigade. According to Budzianowski's testimony, the squadron operated completely without contact with other units, but kept in touch with the headquarters by car. Its last contact with other units was in the area of the village of Mrozy. [Before the mobilisation, he was the commander of the replacement squadron of the 3rd Mounted Rifle Regiment. The date of the end of his command over the squadron is not mentioned in Polish sources. He probably escaped from the encirclement in front of the village of Cegłów with part of the brigade staff. Budzianowski states in his report that as the senior officer he took command before moving to the village of Cegłów. He probably avoided capture. Internet source No. 2 states that as a member of the Provincial Army he died in 1944. [He was probably a platoon commander until he took command. On 07.02.1942, already as a member of the Polish Army in the USSR, he wrote his report on the squadron's activities. In 1944 he was the deputy commander of the 2nd Squadron of the 4th Armoured Regiment "Skorpion" during the battles of Monte Cassino. During his service he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and centurion. As a lieutenant he was awarded the Silver Cross Order of Virtuti Militari. 6)Budzianowski lists : 3 platoons (each with 2 hand machine guns), later battles 2 heavy machine guns, carbines, 1 car, 1 truck, 2 motorcycles, the rest bicycles, hypomobile train. | |
