ZAB-500 (ЗАББ- Зажигателльный бак) - incendiary bomb with a weight of 500 kg. It is designed to destroy targets through an incendiary mixture with a high burning temperature. Thanks to its resistant hull, the bomb can penetrate the walls and ceilings of shelters and also destroy internal equipment located in them. The ZAB-500 is effective against aerial equipment on stands, automobiles, radar equipment, low-resistance buildings, and enemy live forces.
The bomb is usable in all meteorological conditions as long as it is more than -25°C and the snow cover in the target area does not exceed 20 cm. The bombing can be carried out from an altitude of 50 m to 1500 m at a speed of not more than 1500 km/h.
