history
Formed on 12 September 1916 by the renaming of 1st AFC Squadron (Australian Air Force) at Heliopolis Air Base in Egypt. It takes part in the fighting in Palestine and ceases to exist on 6 February 1918 by reverting to its original name 1st AFC Squadron.
On 12 March 1941, it is reconstituted as a fighter-bomber at Kallang base in Singapore. Before the outbreak of war, he moves to Burma and fights in that area until the end of the war with Japan. It is disbanded on 30 August 1945 just before the Armistice is signed.
For the last time, it is reactivated on 1 September 1950 as a fighter-bomber at Gütersloh in Germany. It operated on its soil until its disbandment on 31 May 1957, after rearmament to Sabre aircraft in 1953 as a pure fighter.
