Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen (Sd.Kfz.265) is the successor of the commander version of the tank leichte (Funk) Panzerwagen mit Sonderaufbau, which was built on the chassis Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.A (2.Serie/La.S.). This light command tank was actually just a replacement due to the stretching development and production Pz.Kpfw.III, resp. command versions on this platform. Since the production Pz.Kpfw. I focused on the extended chassis Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.B used this chassis for a new command version machines. A total of three series of this tank were produced.

The machine received a raised octagonal superstructure, on the ceiling of which was a two-part hatch for the entry and exit of the crew (commander). On the left side of the superstructure there was a two-part door for boarding the driver and the radioperator. In the right part of the front armor of the superstructure was mounted in the ball carriage defensive machine gun MG 34 with stock 900 rounds (12 magazines of 75 rounds each). To aim, the commander/shooter had a crosshair K.Z.F.1. Several tanks had a ball range blinded by armor cover (probably it was a modification of the machines before the outbreak of war). The radio equipment consisted of a transmitter Fu 6 (Se 20 U and EU) and Fu 2 (EU). The antenna was 2 meters long and at a power of 20 W Fu 6 had a range of 4-6 kilometers. In 1938, two types of command turrets began to be reassembled on manufactured machines. The first type was of a higher construction and was made of 13 mm thick armored steel. The second type was a lower structure made of armor steel 14.5 mm thick. On the right door of the hatch was a circular cover of the signaling port, the windows were protected by 90 mm thick bulletproof glass and a small roof was created around the square tower, protecting the windows from the sun and rain.

180 command tanks were ordered kl.Pz.Bef.Wg.[/I] However, a total of 184 tanks were produced, because four tanks were sent to Spanish.
In 1940, several machines were disarmed and served as vehicles for doctors, in which the unit's doctor was transported along with medical equipment directly to the battle line to the wounded soldiers. Of course, in the event of an acute threat, the machine also served as an ambulance, but its primary task was not to transport the wounded.
The machines were still used at the time of the attack Soviet Union and fighting in North Africa, but were gradually removed from the front lines and replaced by more modern types. The surviving machines served in school units, or. in less combat-active areas.

Photo 02105, according to other servers, should come from Oslo in 1940. I added a few more photos that I found.

Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen I ("I03"), Bovington Tank Museum, 2003 a 2008. This vehicle served during the German Blitzkrieg in France in 1940, probably at 3. tank division. It was then moved to North Africa. He arrived in the port of Libyan Tripoli in March 1941. The vehicle operated in the ranks of Tankového pluku 5 ze sestre 5. light divisions and later 21. tank division. The exhibited machine was captured by the British at the end of 1941 in Tunisia. He was then transported to the School of Tank Technology, where he underwent extensive examinations. Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen I is today exhibited in gray-brown color 21. tank division from the French campaign in 1940. (© Radek Havelka)
