Short history of the regiment


It was formed in May 1941 at the airport Air Race No. 18 in Voronezh under the name 1. Special Purpose Air Regiment. The pilots of the regiment included test pilots of the Scientific Research Institute of the Air Force, who had extensive previous experience in combat in Spain, China, Mongolia and Finland. It was their rich experience that presupposed the rapid acquisition of new fighter aircraft Ilyushin Il-2 and the development of the most optimal combat tactics for their use, which had not been developed before.


From July 1, the name of the regiment was changed to 430. battle air regiment.
