2-й воздушно десантный корпус - II. формированиеAfter the remnants of the 2nd Airborne Corps (1st Formation) in late September 1941 came out of the enemy encirclement, the 2nd Airborne Corps was withdrawn to the town of Ordzhonikidze, where it re-formed. Two brigades of the 2nd Airborne Corps (1st Formation) were completely wiped out, one escaped the encirclement and was re-formed.
By mid-May 1942, the corps was on formation in Ordzhonikidze. New soldiers, equipment and weaponry were being added, exercises and practice jumps from aircraft were taking place. The corps was apparently preparing for air operations in the upcoming offensive from the Kerch Peninsula. However, with the start of the German offensive against the Krym front and the defeat of the front, plans changed. On 14 May 1942, the corps was moved by rail to Krasnodar. Parts of the corps were then moved to the Taman Peninsula as part of the 47th Army and took up defences on the coast at Taman and further south to the west bank of the mouth of the Kiziltash River. There the corps was intercepted by an order to reform the 2nd Airborne Corps as the 32nd Guards Rifle Division.
