One of the most famous regiments of the old monarchy, where some of our grandfathers served. To illustrate, perhaps, just this beautiful donated Military Cross of Merit. It is the work of the Viennese firm Rothe. The donation etching with the inscription. The back of the cross is modified and bears an inscription (see picture) which is identical to the citation on the etui.


This tradition was introduced in the army of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy with the accession of Emperor Franz Joseph I. We have already written about the issue of decorations, which are variously modified and named, in several issues of the phallic magazine SIGNUM Brno.

Each Austro-Hungarian regiment or unit had its own traditions. A regimental speech, its owner, its regimental "parádemarsh" but also a number of different commemorative and occasional medals, plaques, badges. The exception was not even :

In the attached picture we will look at least three basic and most famous decorations, which, although not official (state), are a memorial or reminder of this famous regiment.


Hoch-und Deutschmeister-Regiments jubiläumsmedaille 1896. The medal was intended to reward mostly veterans of the unit and to commemorate the anniversary of the regiment's founding in 1696-1896. The medal will be described in more detail in the Faleristics section.


Another bronze medal (Erinnerungsmedaille des DRO Ehzg. Eugen. It is a commemorative medal of Archduke Eugen, the owner of the regiment. The medal was struck for the inauguration in 1894 and was struck in bronze as well as silver. The medal in silver is hallmarked and rare, therefore silver plated medals are found, but this is a private initiative of dealers.
In this year (1894), the possession of the Regiment of the Infanterie No. 4 is conferred. On 19 January 1894, he is enthroned as Grand Master and German Master of the Order.


The commemorative and honorary badge is also very interesting, which was minted again on the anniversary of this unit, which is associated with the Order of the Teutonic Knights, but also with the garrison city of Vienna. The badge is oval in shape, the cross of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights is inserted in the center of the badge and the copy is spread on the sides:

On the back there is a clip for attaching to clothing. There is also the manufacturer's mark:
Rozet-Fischmeister Wien 1.


Remark:
On the basis of this badge, there is an attempt to pass off the plate and badge" For Stalingrad" as an original mintage, but this is not the case, neither the badge nor the plate was minted, it is just a vivid imagination of dealers and forgers trying to make a fraudulent sale.

In conclusion:
This famous regiment, referred to in the literature as "German-Czech" and the Order of the Teutonic Knights have a glorious tradition. It is only shameful that to this day Bouzov Castle is still in the possession of the castle comrades in Prague. Just to clarify. The castle was seized by the Nazis, a theft sanctified by Mr. Benes. After 1948, the working class merely approved this theft, and after 1989 we come full circle to the seizure of the castle by the Nazis. It is a quadrature of a circle that has no solution because Czech and Moravian society is too plebeian to honour the history of its ancestors.
