Alabama department was set up 27. June 1865 as one of the followers of the split Zálivního department. Alabama department took over the competence on the territory of the state of Alabama and was assigned Tennesseeské military division. 19. may 1866 were the Alabama department together with the Georgijským departmentem merged into the Southern department.
