history
01.04.1918 - formed at a base in France by renaming the 15th RNAS Squadron, which from its formation on 10.03.1918 conducted night raids on enemy targets on the Western Front and continued this activity under the new name until the end of the war
02.02.1919 - returns to Great Britain
18.10.1919 - disbanded
01.10.1935 - re-established as a bomber at Worthy Down
08.04.1940 - disbanded by reorganisation as 11. OTU (operational training unit)
08.04.1940 - re-established as a bomber at Honington Base
22.05.1940 - dissolved again by merging with 11. OTU
09.12.1941 - re-established as a bomber at Newmarket
12.02.1942 - commences redeployment to India, where it participates in supplying British troops in Burma, conducts anti-submarine patrols and trains for airborne operations, from March 1943 conducts day and night raids on enemy targets, converted to a transport unit in April 1944 and operates in Malaya, Java and Hong Kong
15.02.1946 - disbanded by renumbering as 48th Squadron
01.08.1947 - reactivated as a transport at Kabrit Base, Egypt
01.05.1948 - disbanded by renumbering as 70th Squadron
30.04.1956 - reactivated at Dishforth as a liaison and support unit
01.09.1958 - disbanded by renumbering as 230 Squadron
01.05.1963 - reestablished at Benson as a transport
01.08.1963 - transferred to Singapore
31.12.1968 - disbanded
