Secondary history
In 1999, the Tambov Scientific Research Institute of Radio Engineering (Tamбовский научно-исследовательский институт радиотехники, ТНИИР) began development work on a new radio-electronic warfare (REB) set to replace the Mandat and other jamming complexes. In 2004, development work began on the complex, codenamed Borisoglebsk-2. In 2009, the development of the set was handed over to the design bureau of "Kontsern Sozvezdie" (Концерн Созвездие) in Voronezh, which completely redesigned the jamming set and put it into production.
The first 8 sets of RB-301B "Borisoglebsk-2" were put into service in 2013. The basic REB set consists of the control center R-330KMV, and four pairs of jamming stations: R-378BMV, R-330BMV, R-934BMV and R-325UMV.
Since 2017 Voronezh plant also offers an export version of the REB set, which consists of the control center RB-101B-E, two jamming stations RB-311B-E and six jamming stations RB-331B-E.


Description of Operations
An unknown author on C4ISR and the military wrote: "The basic element of the armament of EB units at the tactical level of the RF Army is the RB-301B ("Borisoglebsk-2") complex covering a wide range of frequencies, which ensures reliable jamming of all means of radio communications of the tactical level. It includes four different types of mobile sites with jammers, all controlled from a single common control site (i.e. five types of vehicle sites in total). Taken as a whole, all sites cover a considerably wide range of frequencies for radio reconnaissance and jamming, providing high speed scanning of frequency bands, rapid response to traffic detected on unknown frequencies, high accuracy in locating radio emission sources, and high throughput of resources for neutralizing hostile traffic. An important feature of the EB means of the "Borisoglebsk-2" complex is the ability to jam enemy radio traffic not only when operating on fixed frequencies, but also when using frequency jumps (spread spectrum).


The wide use of digital signal processing and digital mapping information greatly increases the speed of the radio reconnaissance subsystem, the accuracy and reliability of the information obtained. All devices of the complex operate according to a single algorithm in radio reconnaissance and jamming modes, which allows even in complex combat conditions to detect the most important EB objects of the adversary and to concentrate on them the action of electronic and fire means guaranteeing their neutralization or destruction. The production of "Borisoglebsk-2" complex facilities has been running since 2011.


In this context, let us mention the EB computer trainer called "Magnij-REB". It was created out of the need to provide training in reliable coordination of joint activities of a considerable number of operators of the "Borisoglebsk-2" complex, where the decision-making process is often about seconds. Subsequently, the simulator was developed as a universal training tool for EB systems. It allows members of combat units to acquire the habits necessary to work on various types of EB equipment. It provides effective training for operators and commanders of EB units. The training and achieving the coordination of the necessary activities of a number of specialists is carried out in the mode of simulation of different types and stages of development of radio and electronic situation on the battlefield."
