The Secret Military Organisation was of different character, operating from local organisations (town, district), through regional ones (e.g. in Pomerania, the Secret Military Organisation "Gryf Pomorski") to the national one under the command of Major Jan Mazurkiewicz.
In March 1943, the TOW merged with the Provincial Army of the AK, within which the TOW structure was incorporated into the AK's subversive headquarters - Kedyw.
