BMW 801 - version overview


BMW 801A
The first version of the engine from 1939, a manual control of the electric propeller adjustment, designed for multi-engine aircraft, B4 fuel.


BMW 801B
This version was identical to version 801A, but had the opposite direction of rotation, fuel B4


BMW 801C
Improved cooling, automatic hydraulic propeller control, B4 fuel.


BMW 801L
Identical to the BMW 801 C version, but in reverse direction, fuel B4.


BMW 801D
Increased engine power thanks to a higher compression ratio of the engine, high-octane fuel C3, the possibility of installing the MW50 set


BMW 801G a BMW 801H
Modified BMW 801D for multi-engine bombers, had the opposite direction of rotation.


BMW 801Q
Corresponds to BMW 801 D version, protected oil cooler, fuel C3


BMW 801E
Altitude version of the BMW801D-2 engine, the compressor has been optimized for a higher degree of charge air pressure.


BMW 801R
Another height version with a complex four-speed two-stage compressor.


BMW 801F
This version was also not mass-produced, the development of this engine could not be completed by the end of the war. Horsepower 2,400 horsepower.


BMW 801J
Modified BMW 801D-2, turbocharged, tests only


BMW 801Q
Turbocharger BMW 801E, tests only
