From the attached combat order 107th Rifle Corps dated 01.01.1944, it is clear that Lieutenant Colonel Ronin is signed as Chief of Staff. However, there are a number of soldiers with this surname and rank in the Russian military archives and, moreover, none of them are listed as having served in this corps. I have therefore proceeded by comparing the signatures and have come to a conviction bordering on certainty that in this case it is Lieutenant-Colonel A.M. Ronin, at that time Deputy Chief of the Operations Department of the 1st Guards Army Staff. Which at that time, moreover, was the superior headquarters of the 107th Rifle Corps and therefore it seems logical that it was from there that an experienced staff officer was "loaned" to a subordinate corps for one month.
