history
01.04.1918 - Formed at the Fienvillers airfield in France by renaming the 1st RNAS Squadron, which operated as a fighter squadron on the Western Front and carried out attacks on ground targets until the end of the war, in addition to bomber escorts and free fighter missions
15.02.1919 - Returns to the UK where it is framed
31.12.1919 - Disbanded
01.01.1929 - Re-established as a maritime reconnaissance and patrol unit
1939-1945 - During WWII, the Battleship was disbanded.
1945-1957 - mainly carried out anti-submarine patrols over the North Atlantic, North Sea and off the Norwegian coast, but also supported the Normandy landings (Operation Overlord - 1944)
1945-1957 - continued in its original role in the post-war period, but also participated in the airlift to Berlin (1948-1949)
28.02.1957 - disbanded
01.10.1958 - reconstituted by renaming the 220th Maritime Reconnaissance Squadron, among other things taking part in actions during the Falklands War (1982), both Gulf Wars (1991 and 2003) and the Balkans conflict
26.05.2011 - disbanded
2017 - announced plan to reconstitute it in early 20. Flight with Boeing P-8A Poseidon (Poseidon MRA 1)
07.08.2021 - recovered at RAF Lossiemouth,
