Tankobornický battalion 471 was assembled in December of 1943 in southern Russia from the members of the units of tank destroyers cancelled infantry divisions (headquarters and 1. company of the Panzerjäger-Abteilung 333 333. infantry division, 2. and 3. company of the Panzerjäger-Abteilung 138 38. infantry division.
Each company was armed with 36 hand-held anti-tank weapons Raketenpanzerbüschse 54 Panzerschreck.
The battalion was subordinated to the 1. tank army. In September 1944, was transformed into the Section tds 40 24. panzer division.
