Maximova-Solovjova, Tajsa Jevstignějevna - odstřelovačka 78. Siberian Volunteer Rifle Brigade

* 1928

She was born on February 26, 1928 in the village of Leshkino in the Leningrad region. When the war began, she went to the sixth grade of elementary school. The occupiers killed her half-sister with her five-year-old son. In February 1942, a unit of Soviet scouts broke into her home village and took the remaining children to the rear. Tajsa was evacuated to Novosibirsk, where she began working as a fourteen-year-old in an armory. When she reached the age of fifteen, she reported to the front, but due to her age, she was rejected for the first time. She succeeded only after convincing a senior military administration official. She underwent a short military training not far from Novosibirsk and in March 1943 she was in the lineup 78. Siberian Volunteer Rifle Brigade sent to Kalinin front, where she signed up for snipers.

In the summer of 1943, in the battle for the height of 233.3 not far from Smolensk, she proved real heroism in the fight, when she and several other soldiers resisted the enemy's superiority for three days, during which she knocked out dozens of German soldiers and officers with her sniper rifle. Shortly afterwards, the Order of the Red Star shone on her chest During one of the other events, she suffered a head injury and was briefly hospitalized. In this action, she managed to hit the commanding officer of the enemy defense and her position then became the target of concentrated fire. Upon her return to the unit, she participated in the liberation of the Baltics and Poland. She ended her battle journey in Berlin, where she engraved the signature "Sniper Maximov" on the wall of the Reichstag.

After the war, she graduated from school, got married, and later, from 1965, worked on the Soviet Committee of War Veterans. In the Museum of National History in Novosibirsk, her sniper book of this youngest Soviet sniper with 74 confirmed interventions is on display.
