History / History
The predecessor of the unit was a non-combat 'Air Force Headquarters Ferry Squadron', which was created 1. January 1942 on the base of the Rockcliffe. Her task was to ensure the transport of aircraft between the various hqs on the territory of Canada.
13. February 1942 was renamed the 'Well. 124 (Ferry) Squadron' and continued in the original tasks until its dissolution 30. September 1946. Between November 1942 was divided into two groups with bases in Rockcliffe (eastern group) and in the Winnipeg (west group). The western group was 1. march 1944 reorganized to 170. squadron RCAF.
