history
It was formed on December 28, 1916 at the airport South Carlton as the 69th Squadron of the RFC with Australian personnel. After completing his training, he moved to France in September 1917 and, as a reconnaissance party, took part in the battles of the First World War. of war. January 19, 1918 ceases to be redesignated the 3rd Squadron of the AFC (Australian Air Force).
On January 10, 1941, it was restored in Malta by redesignating the 431st Squadron, conducting strategic reconnaissance and naval patrols in the western Mediterranean. In April 1944, he moved to Great Britain and supported Allied troops, after landing in Europe from bases in France and the Netherlands, where he ended his war pilgrimage and where it was dissolved on August 7, 1945.
The next day (August 8, 1945) it is renewed by renumbering 613. Squadron at the French base Cambrai as a fighter-bomber and where it operates until the dissolution of March 31, 1946.
The next day it is restored again by renumbering 180. Squadron at the base Wahn in Germany as a light bomber, but as early as November 6, 1947 it is disbanded again.
It was last activated on October 1, 1954 as a reconnaissance base at Gütersloh in Germany, but on April 1, 1958 it was transferred to Malta and renumbered to 39. peruť expires on July 1, 1958.
