Dear Sirs,
during this year's maneuvers of the Serbian army, a prototype of the modernized M84AS2 tank was presented to the public.
The vehicle should be equipped with a higher power drive unit and new belts with a longer service life. New opto-electronic devices and a fire control system were installed in the tower. In addition to the main armament, a remote-controlled weapon station with a 12.7 mm machine gun was added to the turret. The defensive elements of the vehicle were reinforced with new active armor on the fuselage and turret. Armor is intended to significantly reduce the effects of HEAT and APFSDS anti-tank missiles. The vehicle's charging system and 125mm cannon were taken from the M84 tank.
It is speculated that some modernization elements are imported from Belarus and possibly France.
