Regiment of the Luftwaffe Regiment General Göring was formed on 24. September 1935 from the police regiment of the the Regiment General Göring, which was transferred from the Provincial police (Landespolizei) to the air force.
In January 1936 there were two units of the regiment (I. Jäger-Bataillon, and 15. Pionier-Company) reassigned to the the Military training area Döberitz to výsadkářskému training, in march 1938 were exempted from the state of the regiment and used as the basis for the Paradesantní regiment 1.
Regiment General Göring participated in the occupation of Austria in march 1938, the Sudetenland in October of the same year and Prague in march 1939.
A small part of the troops have been fighting in Poland, participated in the invasion of Denmark and Holland, in 1940 reached the coast of the English channel. During the balkan campaign were anti-aircraft units of the regiment deployed to Romania to secure the oil fields.
During the invasion of the Soviet union fought with the Kiev and Briansk.
In July 1942 the regiment had been strengthened and transformed the Brigade General Göring.
