55th Auxiliary Technical Battalion [1950-1951]


The battalion was newly formed on 1 October 1950. It was located in Ostrava-Radvanice and was subordinated to the Headquarters of the Engineer Troops of the Ministry of National Defence [1950-19] and from January 1951 to the Construction and Accommodation Administration of the Ministry of National Defence [1950-19].


The battalion used the codename VÚ 9155 from its inception.


The battalion was renamed the 1st Auxiliary Technical Battalion on 15 June 1951 [1951-1953].

The first commander of the battalion was major Jan Fencl. The original code number was WOO 9115, after the battalion used the WOO 3851. The battalion was stationed in Ostrava-Radvanice, while the men were accommodated in camps the Old Kamchatka and Progress.

The battalion consisted of six working companies and one company replacement. Members of the battalions worked in favor of the down Progress and Hedwig.
