The 701st Naval Air Squadron was reconstituted on 01 October 1942 from the 700th Squadron stationed in Beirut. The squadron had 6 Walrus aircraft under 201st RAF Squadron. Later, the squadron provided anti-submarine patrols under 235 Wing from Latakia. It was disbanded on 15.08.1943.
