| To one of the most tragic accidents in the history of Czechoslovakia. of the Air Force occurred at the end of Exercise SHIELD 1972. On September 12, 1972, a three-member crew from the state of the 2nd Helicopter Swarm of Pardubice 4th SLP transported seven passengers from the staff of the 1st SLD to a new command post in Jihlava. The helicopter took off at 12:25 from Malacky Airport, made a stopover in Hlohohovec and Piešťany, from where it continued after takeoff at 14:05 to Jihlava. The flight took place in a three-member swarm, the machine "7116" led a group flying in a "wedge" formation at a height of 100m above the ground. In the area of the village of Rudíkov, the crews of other helicopters saw one of the blades of the main rotor suddenly torn off from the head of the machine and flew right past the helicopter flying on the left side. The leading helicopter began to shake, rolled to the side and headed for the ground. During the fall, the tail beam broke off, the helicopter turned down the rotor and fell to the ground like a rock. After the impact, the machine exploded and the wreckage was engulfed in a violent fire. Due to the fact that the helicopter became completely unmanageable after tearing off the rotor blade, the crew had no chance to prevent the catastrophe. All ten men on board were killed in the crash. Both machines flying on the number quickly landed next to the burning wreck, but due to the great heat, it was not possible to approach the wreckage. An inspection of the wreck relatively quickly revealed the cause of the leaf tearing. Fatigue fracture of the axle hinge pin was found, which was caused by considerable corrosion attack in connection with reduced micropurity of the pin material. A serious fact was discovered, namely that the catastrophe could be prevented during the GO, which took place on a helicopter in LO Trenčín half a year before the catastrophe. Contrary to the original Soviet documentation, a different technological procedure was established for GO. According to the original documentation, the replacement of the axle hinge pins was ordered at each GO, ie at an interval of 800 hours. The Soviets apparently introduced this measure on the basis of an accident of their own helicopter. Chief Aviation Engineer Col. However, M.D signed an order according to which the replacement is not carried out and is carried out only after the raid at 1400 hours. The remarkable fact was that the finding and measuring protocol on the GO rotor head was not found - it was simply lost in the repair shops in Trenčín. According to the investigation file, these facts were to be dealt with by the military prosecutor's office, which was to assess the degree of criminal liability of the perpetrators. It is not mentioned in the investigation file whether anyone was actually prosecuted. |
