During the fighting for Stalingrad, the idea arose for a kind of fighting tank, which with its massive construction could create free passages for infantry through the ruins of houses and barricades.
5.1.1943 ordered Adolf Hitler construction of three such tanks, whose platform was to come from Porsche's developmental heavy tanks VK 45.01 (P) - competitor in a heavy tank competition Tiger.
The upper part of the hull was to be removed from the machines, and instead it was to be fitted with a massive armored superstructure of a sharp wedge-shaped shape, which was to form a kind of blade-like ram, with which the machine was to break up barricades. The thickness of the front parts of this ram was to reach up to 400 mm. The machine was to have defensive armament consisting of only one machine gun MG 34. The weight of the car was to be over 70 tons.
According to old documents, it is said that the project was tightened only in the form of drawing documentation and the position of the model in the scale of 1:15, but in the publication of Mr. Jentz and Mr. Doyle, it is stated that the three Rammtigers should have been completed in 8/1943. However, there are no documents about any combat action or the unit in which they should be included. If we do not count the old photomontage, where the Rammtiger model is in the company of Soviet T-34/85 somewhere in a car park or landfill, then no real photography is available. Probably this idea of such a concept was quickly rejected and the project ended. The fate of these machines is still largely unknown, if they were actually built they probably did not leave the factory.

Pred mnohými rokmi bola publikovaná táto fotomontáž. Momentálne nemám k dispozícii pôvodnú fotografiu, kde je namiesto modelu Rammtigera ďalší tank T-34/85.
