I Led 4. "And" group on a companion mission to the Ruhland. After seeing the bombers to the target, I turned around and took the "A" group to sweep to the east of the Berlin. While flying at 8,000 feet on the southern outskirts of Berlin, I saw a lone B-17 at 5 000 feet. Flying from the east to the west. The bomber made a 180 degree turn and headed towards the Russian lines. This aircraft carried the characters 3. division (red tail with diagonal red markings on the wings). I tried with this bomber link on channel "C", but I wasn't able to connect with him. I followed the flying fortress to the east of Berlin, where I saw 4 planes circling over the city of Furstenwalde. I chased it through the city and identified them as Fw 190tky. All carried bombs, and it looked like shaping up for an attack on the Russian lines. Were kamuflané spots of brown and had small crosses on the dirty white circles.
