7,5 cm StuK 40 L/41 auf Pz.Kpfw. III/StuG III (testovacie vozidlo StuG s dlhým kanónom)
In 1940, the Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. F (5./Z.W.) test self-propelled gun with a new superstructure and a new Krupp gun with barrel length L/41. The test vehicle (Versuchsfahrzeug) took part in tests and later probably also in training of the new self-propelled artillery units in Jüterbog. It was essentially a preview of the later mass-produced StuG III Ausf. F.
Vehicle detail notes:
The vehicle is on a platform that has the older original layout of the support pulleys (later platforms had the front pulleys closer to the drive wheel).
There is probably a fake armoured visor cover mounted on the front armour of the superstructure to the left of the gun (it was later dismantled).
The drive and tension wheels are of the old type, the platform has hatches over the clutches á Pz.Kpfw. III.
The service brake has elongated side deflectors.
I haven't officially read about this vehicle anywhere. A couple of years ago photos appeared on www.ebay.de and something appeared in Polish publications (Troika).
