Diskuse

On March 8, 1968, the US SOSUS sonar system picked up several implosion explosions around noon, the cause of which has never been determined and probably never will be.
During the Azorian project, when the remains of the K-129 (specifically the 50 meter segment from the bow to the trailing edge of the conning tower) were being recovered, the structural material of the dredge was delaminated and 5 of the 8 arms broke off (arm #4 broke off already on the bottom) and with them the bulk of it, including the conning tower, returned to the seabed. The only thing that was salvaged was the forward section with the torpedo tubes. After it was recovered, 6 bodies of Soviet sailors were found in its remains, 3 of whom could be identified [sailor Vladimir Mikhailovich Kostyushko (1947-1968), senior sailor Viktor Alexandrovich Lochov (1947-1968) and sailor Valentin Grigorievich Nosachev (1947-1968)]. These three were later given a Soviet-style naval funeral by the Americans. The entire ceremony was filmed and the recording was given to the Russian side in 1993.
Thus, Captain Kobzar and 93 other sailors will forever rest at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
